Gitan Rakhra

Gitan works in admissions at the Penticton Campus of Okanagan College. She enjoys serving students and working with them to meet their post-secondary goals.Gitan has lived in Penticton for 4 years with her partner Ronnie. In a pre-pandemic world she enjoyed summers paddling Skaha Lake with her Dragon Boat team. In the winter she would put on her dancing shoes and take ballroom dancing classes. These days she is making the most of the beautiful trails in the area and cooking up a storm in her kitchen.Gitan graduated Simon Fraser University with a Degree in Sociology and Anthropology in 2015. Gitan has always been always been fascinated by the social facts of life. This passion has only grown with her career, as she has worked some interesting roles such as Community Support Worker and Victim Support Worker. Gitan is an active member of BCGEU local 707 and enjoys participating in union business and learning about the democratic change-making processes. She has been a member of the PAMDA Board since 2019 and in 2020 was elected to the position of Secretary.
