Dillys began her piano studies in southern Manitoba at age seven. Upon moving to Penticton in 1985, she studied piano and theory with Helen Sylvester and completed her ARCT Teacher’s Diploma through the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto. Since then, she has been teaching piano and theory in Kaleden to students of all ages and levels. Her students have participated in local and provincial festivals, often winning awards and scholarships. She also prepares students for exams with the Royal Conservatory of Music and Conservatory Canada. Many of her students have received scholarships through the South Okanagan branch of the BC Registered Music Teachers Association, of which she is a member.

In addition to teaching, Dillys has taken part in the worship music at Kaleden Community Church since 1991, has accompanied numerous children’s choirs, participated in ensemble concerts and has been a keyboard player in the orchestra for Soundstage Productions of Penticton for 14 of their past musical theatre presentations.

Dillys regularly attends local teachers’ workshops as well as provincial and national conventions for registered music teachers. She feels it is very important to continue her learning. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and passion for music with her students and encourages them to share their music with others in whatever way they feel comfortable. Ensemble work with other students is also encouraged, as well as learning many different styles of music. Dillys enjoys playing and teaching all types of music and has a special interest in jazz piano.
