This year, PAMDA has recruited two recent graduates from the University of Victoria’s Bachelor of Music Education program to lead four weeks of summer camps.
Maia Copley is an accomplished musician and passionate music educator with a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Victoria.
As a Music Teacher (piano and voice) at Tapestry Music since 2021 and a camp leader for a musical theatre-based summer camp with Four Seasons Musical Theatre, Maia has made it her mission to inspire students and nurture their love for music.
Alongside her teaching roles, Maia has showcased her musical talents by accompanying students for exams and recitals while working at Stellar Jay Music Studio. She has also actively participated in music events, including serving as a concert supervisor for Music Discoverys at the University of Victoria in 2023 and performing with the Cowichan Valley Community Band at local care homes.
Sarah Higginson is also a dedicated music educator, experienced camp leader, and holder of a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from the University of Victoria. With a deep passion for music, she has been instrumental in inspiring students and campers alike.
Since July 2020, Sarah has been teaching private music lessons, specializing in music theory, music history, euphonium and trumpet.
In addition to her teaching role, Sarah is a proficient camp leader with Camp Imadene Wildside and Fresh Steps Behavioural Consulting. She's skilled in planning engaging activities and ensuring a rewarding and immersive experience for campers. Her background in music education, coupled with her passion for music, allows her to incorporate musical elements into the camps, such as organizing musical excursions and teaching basic vocal techniques.
This summer, Maia and Sarah will be leading:
