Olivia Walsh
Cello
Olivia Walsh began her cello studies at the age of 4 with the Society for Talent Education in Edmonton, Alberta. After years of study in the Suzuki Method, she went on to pursue a degree in performance at the University of Alberta, studying with Tanya Prochazka.
Upon graduation, Olivia began a career as a teacher, a conductor and a freelance musician. She has conducted a number of student string orchestras, taking an orchestra to Montreal and Ottawa to perform at a national youth orchestral festival. Olivia has had the opportunity to study cello, chamber music and play under the baton of outstanding teachers and musical icons, including Mistislav Rostropovich, Janos Starker, and Amanda Forsyth.
Olivia moved to Kelowna with her family in 2006. She enjoys making music with her colleagues as well as working with students of all ages. Olivia teaches in Kelowna, Kamloops and Penticton, and is a happy section cellist in both the Okanagan Symphony and the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra.
