Fees

Private lessons are offered in 30-minute, 45-minute, and 1-hour lesson blocks on a weekly basis during the school year. Schedules are individually set by each teacher, and all fees are paid by the semester in advance.

Private Lesson Rates, in-person or via real-time video, vary according to the instructor. However, generally, they range from

  • $35 to $40 for 30 minutes

  • $50 to $60 for 45 minutes

  • $65 to $80 for 60 minutes

Additional Fees

Each adult student or family pays an annual $15 membership fee.

Private lessons are subject to a $35 registration fee per student per discipline, to a maximum of $90 per year.

Please remember:

  • Lesson times and instructors are available on a first-come, first-served basis – just because your lesson was at 4 pm Tuesday for 45 minutes this year does not mean it will be at 4 pm next year unless you pre-register before someone else does for that instructor, day, time, and duration.

  • Registration fees are due at the time of enrollment. The payment of the registration fee secures your lesson’s: day, time, duration, and instructor.

  • We accept cheques and e-transfer. Credit cards are not accepted.

All past dues must be paid prior to acceptance of registration.

Payment Options

Tuition for lessons is due and payable in full on receipt of your invoice and can be paid by cheque or etransfer to info@pentictonacademyofmusic.ca (no password required) OR, if you are registering for the full Academic term, in 8 equal installments payable September through April. Please contact the office directly to discuss this option.

Fees are payable IN ADVANCE of lessons. All post-dated equal payment cheques MUST be received by the Academy by the end of the first week of the term, otherwise a $25 service may be applied to the account.

A service charge will be applied to accounts for each NSF/returned cheque.

Policies

Missed Lesson Policy: General

The Academy and its faculty are under no obligation to provide refunds or make up lessons unless the lesson is cancelled by the teacher. Lessons missed by the teacher will be re-scheduled or a substitute will be provided. This policy is applicable to online and in-person lessons. Credit requests for lessons missed by the teacher must be received by June 14, 2023. Requests can be made directly to the office by email and will be verified with the teacher.

Communicable Disease Prevention Policy: In-Person & Online Lessons

For health purposes, an online lesson is considered a valid substitution for an in-person lesson. Students may request their lessons be taught online only. If a student or a teacher is unable to attend a private in-person lesson due to COVID-19 preventative measures, the lesson will be taught online, rescheduled, or credited. Please provide as much notice as possible. For the health and safety of our faculty and students, we ask that if you are feeling even slightly unwell that you take your lesson online instead of coming to the studio.

Students, or any accompanying person(s), who arrive for an in-person lesson while sick will be asked to leave the premises immediately and the student will be charged for the lesson.

Group classes: There are NO REFUNDS for group classes, unless the class is cancelled by the Academy.

Private lesson withdrawal: To discontinue private lessons and suspend automatic charges, please notify the office in writing one full month prior to the first of the month. Notice given to the instructor only (verbally or otherwise) and non-attendance does not constitute withdrawal from lessons. For example, if you plan to discontinue/suspend lessons in February, then we will need to receive your written notice before the first lesson in January. If no notice is given by the first lesson of the month before lessons are being discontinued/suspended, the student/parent will be responsible for the next full month's tuition.

There will be no refunds after April 15.
