We're happy to announce the return of the PAMDA String Orchestra!
Now led by violin instructor Kelsey Zachary, the PAMDA String Orchestra offers musicians in Penticton and the surrounding communities an opportunity to gain experience in orchestral performance, with a focus on developing good intonation, rhythm, and musicianship.
Membership in the orchestra is open to all string musicians aged 16 and older, who play at a Grade 4 level or higher and are comfortable sight-reading.
Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Community Art Room at the Leir House Cultural Centre, starting Wednesday, September 28, 2022. Sign up today!
About the PAMDA String Orchestra
The PAMDA String Orchestra program began over 20 years ago under the leadership of John Suderman when a group of adult musicians were looking for an opportunity to play in an orchestra. The string orchestra grew to include more than 20 musicians, often performing at various venues over the years. In 2020, the orchestra was temporarily restructured into chamber ensembles. Now, Kelsey Zachary, once a member of the orchestra, has taken over and is eager to continue John’s mission to give local string musicians an opportunity to develop their orchestral ensemble and musical skills.
