The Academy offers a wide variety of group lessons for students of all ages and abilities.

PAMDA String Orchestra

34 Wednesdays

7-8:30pm

This is a fun and exciting opportunity to gain experience in orchestral performance under the direction of Kelsey Zachary, with a focus on developing good intonation, rhythm, and musicianship.

Membership in the orchestra is open to all string musicians aged 16 and older, who play at a Grade 4 level or higher and are comfortable sight-reading. 

Ages: 16 and up

September 28 to June 14, 2023

$340 (plus registration fees) (discount of $80 if taking private lessons at PAMDA)

Bluegrass Basics (guitar/banjo/mandolin/bass)

Want to improve your Bluegrass/Country playing ability so that you can jam with friends? In this 7-week group class, you’ll learn the fundamental history, techniques, scales, and songs of this fun and social genre, under the instruction of Dave Barber. Topics will include jamming etiquette, timing, theory, and having fun! Only a few spaces available. You’ll need your own instrument. Beginners welcome. 

Fee: $140 (plus registration fees)

Jazz/Blues Jam

THIS CLASS IS TEMPORARILY ON HOLD. PLEASE WATCH FOR UPDATES. In this 7-week group class, instructor Dave Barber will cover everything from the blues to standards. You’ll learn about jazz theory, while getting a chance to improvise and jam with other like-minded musicians. Only a few spaces available. You’ll need your own guitar. Beginners welcome.

Musical Theatre Breakout for 13 to 18 year olds

This dynamic group class for teens will bring vocal delivery, dramatic arts, and creative movement to the next level. The class focuses on part-singing, developing proper vocal technique, vocal range development, dramatic development, group awareness, and stage movement. Students will explore their dramatic sides through the use of drama games, Improvisation, monologues, dialogues, and mini plays. The students will explore classic and modern musical theatre repertoire
